BROVIA

“Brovia remains one of the most impressive estates in Piedmont. Even after a string of impressive recent vintages, the wines remain less well known than quality would suggest. The 2011s will give Brovia fans plenty to enjoy while the epic 2010s rest in the cellar. The Brovia Barolos remain quite classic in style.” -Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

Our visit to Brovia in September of 2015 was an exciting one. Before touring the cellar, we had to scramble and move our car out of the way as the Dolcetto grapes were arriving. We got to see the sorting, de-stemming and crushing happen, very swift and efficiently. The winemaking team of Elena and Cristina Brovia were very busy, but we got to sit and taste with Elena’s husband Alex who manages the estate. We tasted through the current lineup of 2011 Baroli and saw a preview of 2012 and 2013. As always, the wines maintain a level of sophistication and class that separate them from many other producers.
